Assistive Technology for Canberra Community
Assistive Technology can provide a variety of solutions, for those living with a disability, that assists you in your day to day life. It could be as simple as an easy as a grip can opener to home modifications.
The principle is to assist you to be able to live at home, retain a level of independence, continue to connect with people, community and live the life you choose.
Assistive Technology and the NDIS
The NDIS can provide funding for Assistive Technology. It states the following:
Supports may be included in your NDIS plan where it is a reasonable and necessary support that will meet your needs and help you pursue your goals.
The funding is assessed on an individual case basis as part of the whole NDIS plan created for the participant. There are 4 levels of complexity that are associated with the level of disability and the environment the technology will be used.
DAACCS Support Coordination Team can assist in preparing for a participants NDIS plan review. This may include assisting you to get assessments and recommendations for Assistive Technology solutions that will benefit you in attaining your personal goals in the way you want to live.
